If anyone in our industry didn’t learn it, well that’s OK too but eventually, they would have to look for something else to do outside of the AEC industry because at some point, they will not be able to compete. This confirmed our prediction along with many others that the future definitely will have to involve BIM and we as Architects, Engineers, and Contractors would all have to learn it and work with it one way or another. This bright-light at the end of the tunnel was largely due to the rapid acceptance of BIM by government entities worldwide and along with the speed in which BIM’s popularity was growing at that time. When my co-founder and I opened THE BIM FACTORY late in 2013 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, there were a lot of excitement and optimism in our minds for the growth of the Architectural Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry in Asia - even though I had just dejectedly quit working at another BIM company that I co-founded three years before which I had the same enthusiasm from the beginning. “…the future definitely will have to involve BIM and we as Architects, Engineers, and Contractors would all have to learn it and work with it one way or another.” The Bright Light My intent is to help the so-call BIM experts -including myself - as well as those who just are starting to learn about Revit to continue to learn it, but at a much faster and more effective rate than I did.
This article’s objective is to share my personal experience of how I learned Revit as well as the lessons that I learned from it.
